The Office of Special Education Services (OSES) works with local education agencies (LEAs), our technical assistance center (SC TEAMS), and other offices within the South Carolina Department of Education to ensure that all students with disabilities ages 3-21 in South Carolina receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment possible as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education ACT (IDEA). OSES is committed to improving academic results for students with disabilities through supports provided to LEAs, educators, families, students, and other stakeholders, always keeping in mind that our students with disabilities are general education students first.
