The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guarantees a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for children whose disabilities significantly hinder their learning. The SC Department of Education Office of Special Education Services (OSES) assists and supports the public school districts [ referred to as Local Education Agencies (LEAs) ] in providing services for students with disabilities as outlined on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
