Co-Teaching

Co-teaching in special education is a collaborative approach to instruction in which a general education teacher and a special education teacher work together to plan and implement instruction for a class that includes students with disabilities.  Co-teaching aims to provide an inclusive and least-restrictive environment for students with special needs as well as access to the general education curriculum and opportunities to meet grade level standards.  Co-teaching also allows for greater efficiency and shared responsibility and accountability for the teachers.
