Ombudsman

The initial step toward resolution for educational programming of students receiving special education services at the state level begins with the Office of Special Education Services (OSES) Ombudsman office. The OSES Ombudsman makes direct contact with the school district/local education agency and communicates with the family and/or organizations/agencies involved to address concerns related to a student's special education eligibility and special education programming.

  • The Ombudsman offers general assistance by  sharing information regarding applicable state and federal special education regulations as well as available dispute resolution options.
  • The OSES Ombudsman serves as an impartial third party who listens to all sides of the issues and seeks appropriate special education processes and positive student outcomes.

You may contact the OSES Ombudsman for additional information.
